News &
Announcements March
9, 2005 Hi
Roadkill Fans! Week #2 is all ready here and winter has not let up on the
snow and cold temperatures in New England. NH schools are just starting the project
this week as we were on vacation on the week 1 monitoring. Many New England schools
were closed today due to the snowstorm that started late Tuesday (March8) Winds
were high and many people lost electricity (including me) for the night. I think
roadkill counts will be very low this week as snow again is predicted Friday and
Saturday. Skunks are on the move and some of my students all ready have seen live
ones walking around in their backyards and of course the "dead skunk" in the middle
of the road. This is their time to come out of their dens to forage for food as
they have been holed up most of the winter. Let's hope our unusual cold temperatures
fall by the wayside soon ... it is time for spring. Dr.Splatt February
