The fall PBTIL meeting was held on September 25 at Read Hall at The University of Massachusetts Lowell. Teacher participants came together to discuss new available technology and plans for the upcoming school year.

This year Parent Coordinators will work with the PBTIL project to help teachers and project staff increase community involvement in projects.

This past summer many PBTIL participating teachers worked to develop lesson plans that integrated educational technology and involved students' communities and families. These plans can be accessed from teachers front pages, students' projects page or at the following URL's:

January - 2000

Schedule of Onsite PBTIL Meetings

On January 22, Elizabeth Palkovits, Susan Prior, Professor Rodriguez, and Michaela Colombo will be presenting the PBTIL project at MATSOL. We will be sharing teachers' and students' work with teacher participants and others who are interested in technology integration.

On February 15, Professor Rodriguez and Michaela Colombo present the PBTIL project at the NABE Conference in San Antonio Texas.

We will present at MABE in Leominster on March 7 or 8. If you are interested in presenting at the MABE conference, please contact Michaela at 978.466.6255 or wyman@edutel.org

This will mean that many more students and teachers will be looking at your students' work and may want to contact you or them. This is an excellent opportunity for your students to interact with their audience. Please check your email regularly and share appropriate emails with your students.

Please share your students' and others' published work with them!

January's Monument featured on EduTel Communications Inc.'s GraveNet http://www.edutel.org/gravenet/ page is Tucker Hazzard, a Black Soldier 1836- 1896. The monument was only recently erected in 1996. There are many excellent links to information about Martin Luther King, Civil Rights, and the important roles that minorities have played in the history of The United States.

Meetings/Workshops

Your attendance at meetings/workshops is very important. The project is a collaboration because we learn from each other and through the sharing of ideas. If you cannot be at your scheduled workshop, please attend one at another site.

In addition to the meetings, we will provide you with regular support both online, by telephone, and in additional scheduled onsite meetings. If you have an idea you are not sure about and would like to explore, call or email. We are here to support you.

January Meeting: Before the January meeting, you should submit your artwork for your front page if you have not already done so. You should also have the "headings" or "topics" you would like as "clickable links" on your front page. These should be submitted by January 12. All materials may be sent electronically, by disk, or in hard copy. When your materials are ready, please bring them to Professor Rodriguez' office at Upham Hall, West Campus or email wyman@edutel.org and arrange for them to be picked up at your school.

At January's onsite meetings we will look at each other's front pages and student publishing, and discuss ways you can use other teams' pages to integrate technology and to motivate your students.
