The Great Horned Owl

The Great Horned Owl has many Physical Characteristics. The Great Horned owls' calls sound like "Hoo HooHoooooo HooHoo" The sounds can be heard miles away in a still night. The Great Horned Owls size is 18i inches to 25 inches tall. It weighs 32 to 63 ounces. The color of the Great Horned Owl is reddish brown to a gray or black and white. The under side color is a light gray with a dark bars, and a white band of feathers on the upper breast. The Great horned owl uses his sharp talons to grab or snatch its prey. It has a one of the largest wingspans. These are some interesting facts on the Great Horned Owls physical characteristics.

The Great horned owl lives in many places that you do not know about. The Great Horned Owl lives in dense forests, plains, deserts and maybe in city parks too. The Great Horned Owls live in branches and logs. The Great horned owl is found in America, Canada, and South America. The Great Horned Owl may live in many other different places too.

The Great Horned Owl hunts and eats different prey. Great Horned Owls eat a lot of animals, like they hunt rodents, skunks, minks,squirrels and more animals. Great Horned Owls hunt by hanging on poles and snags, and they watch there prey and then attack. Great horned owls hunt at night. They hunt around big trees and pounce when they find their prey. It is hard to escape the Great Horned Owl if it is hungry.

The Great horned owl is very aggressive when protecting its young. The Great Horned Owl lays their eggs in January or February. The Great Horned owl lays up to three eggs in other animals' abandoned nests.
