By Amanda M.

The Barred Owl has many physical characteristics. The colors of the Barred Owl are gray-brown with white horizontal lines across the belly. An eye on the Barred Owl is brown. Their beak is yellow and almost covered with feathers. A Barred Owls size is between (40-63cm) and (16-25 inches) long. The voice of the Owl sounds like "Hoo-Hoo WAAHH." They call more during the day than at night. These are just some of the physical characteristics of a Barred Owl

There are many places where the Barred Owl chooses to live The Barred Owl lives mostly in the eastern part of North America. They also live in deep moist forests, wooden swamps and woodland. This is the habitat of the Barred Owl.

This is how the Barred Owl eats and hunts. Barred Owl eats rats, squirrels, young rabbits, bats, moles, jays, blackbirds, and pigeons. They get there food by sitting on a perch and then diving down and to grab there prey. they eat frogs, fish, and turtles too, because they sometimes live near water.

This is about males and females breeding to have an egg. Males hoot for females and give contact calls. When the females are nesting, the males fly out to go to get food for the females. The females lay about 2-4 eggs. It takes about 28 to 30 days before the eggs will hatch. There eggs are white and almost round. Barred Owls care for their young for about 4 months. This is all about the Barred Owls and their breeding.
