Deborah Donovan-Pérez -
I am a third grade bilingual teacher at the Comprehensive Grammar School in Methuen, MA. This is my fourth year at the school, prior to this I taught Spanish at a private elementary school in Andover, MA. I am a graduate of Emmanuel College with both a B.A. and a M.Ed. I am attending classes at the University of Massachusetts Lowell to obtain my bilingual certification.
I have three school age children, Chris is 14, Kara is 11, and Eric is 9. I like to read, my daughter and I are in a mother/daughter book club that meets monthly, I like sports, both playing them and watching them on TV. My favorite is tennis, but I love to watch the Patriots and the Red Sox.
My class this years consists of 19 students, many of whom were born in Puerto Rico or the Dominican Republic. Five of the students have been in Methuen since kindergarten, four are newly arrived from Puerto Rico, and two speak little or no English. They are all very excited to be participating in this project and were thrilled to see their own work on the computer screen. We are working on another writing project and hope to add it to our home page soon.

Iris Garcia-Barragan

I come from Lima, Peru. There, I studied in the IPNM to become a Teacher of French. I taught foreign languages for almost three years, then I came to the United States to study at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. Two years after that, I am working at the C.G.S. as the Grade 4 Bilingual Teacher, and I am very happy that I can use the knowledge in Reading I acquired at UMass. My students are very excited about this project, and hope that people like their work. I hope so too!
