Adobe PDF Files

EduTel makes some files vailable on-line in Portable Document Format (PDF), which are read using Adobe's Acrobat Reader software. Acrobat provides an application/platform and printer-independent way of presenting the same document on many different machines.

PDF files are used for complex files on this web site that may already exist in printed form. If a document is a PDF file you will need to obtain a copy of Adobe's Acrobat Reader to view the document. The software is freely available from Adobe's web site. Once you have downloaded and installed Acrobat Reader, you may then download the document and view/print it.

In order to view PDF files directly in your browser, follow these steps:

  1. Download the Acrobat Reader.
  2. Install the Acrobat Reader on your machine (if you are using Windows, you're finished at this point).
  3. Configure your web browser to recognize PDF files (you will do this only one time). Locate the Web Plug-Ins folder in the Acrobat folder; then place the Acrobat Web plug-in into the Netscape or Internet Explorer plug-ins folder.
  4. Finally, select Acrobat Reader as the helper application with which to view pdf files in your browser preferences. Alternately, the next time you attempt to view a pdf file, your browser may prompt you to pick the application--simply locate and select Acrobat Reader.
