The GraveNet Project

The GraveNet Project
We are presently constructing the GraveNet project which will give students an opportunity to investigate the rich historical value of their community within their local cemeteries. We will also provide activities that will encourage students to study the art, language, and symbolism that is found on older tombstones. The GraveNet project has strong ties to the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks. Click here for a listing of these. (click to see detail on stone)
Some classes may want to look at the possibilities of incorporating a geologic component to this activity by comparing slate, limestone and various granite markers for their resistance to physical and chemical weathering. (click to see detail on stone)
